The national girls collaborative project held its second collaboration conference April 25-27th . The ngcp focuses on the development of collaborations across organizations dedicated to increasing girls and women’s participation in science, technology, engineering and math (stem). The conference brought together people from industry, federal agencies, academic organizations, as well as established and grassroots programs for girls.

This undergraduate conference is dedicated to the development of community and diversity. Initiated by Dr. Holmes and Giles as part of the Empowering Leadership Alliance (ELA, www.empoweringleadership.org) in collaboration with Tim Hickey and the committee of New England Computer Science Chairs. We recognized that in order to support increased racial and gender diversity within computing, we needed to create an inclusive computing community.

Holmes will talk wednesday evening at 4:45pm with the students of U. Conn's professional science masters in applied genomics . In this talk, Holmes will invite students to see everyone's ability to perform, like actors, as a significant component to creating collaborative and developmental, professional interactions. The professional science masters degrees provide substantial cross-training for successful performance in business, governmental or corporate environments.
