Uncomfortable Independent Conversations

Friday, April 9, 2021

Uncomfortable Independent Conversations (UIC) was created by Dr. Raquell Holmes in May 2020 to bring together individuals who—independent of institutional locations—are interested in having conversations that transform their experiences of race, class and gender in America and move us closer to one another.

Conversations about race, class, or violence are uncomfortable. Talking with people different to us can be difficult--but now is the time!

Please join us at one of our upcoming series.

Email us at info@improvscience.org or sign up for future invitations here if you are unable to attend these dates and would like to participate in future conversations.

UIC invites you to ask questions, to be curious, be open, and be willing to be surprised. Can you hear a colleague in a new way? Can you suspend the narrative that says, “I know what’s going on”?

We have the ability to create change. Let Dr. Holmes support you create performances that lead with who you are, with your humanity.

  • Sliding scale $75 - $375.

  • "It is helpful to connect with others and be part of an ensemble of amazing people, to be challenged to empathize more and intellectualize less."
  • "It is possible to read the news and read anti-racist books and feel pain by oneself, but caring is more inherently relational, caring requires cultivating social connections and conversations."

If you have questions, please feel free to reach out directly to Dr. Holmes at info@improvscience.org. Sign up for future invitations on the form here.
